Pond and Lake Mapping
Bathymetric (water depth contour) maps are extremely important when it comes to properly managing
and restoring ponds and lakes. These maps provide an in-depth understanding about the physical and
morphological characteristics of ponds and lakes.
In turn, professional pond and lake managers frequently use these maps to determine important pond and
lake variables including average (mean) water depths, maximum water depths, water volumes, sediment volumes
and surface areas. Many of these variables crucial when properly implementing pond and lake management and
restoration techniques such as, chemical control of nuisance algae and aquatic weeds, alum additions, liming,
aeration, fish stockings and so on.

Aqua Link is staffed with Certified Lake Managers who are experienced in
developing professional bathymetric maps (water depth contour maps) for ponds and lakes. Aqua Link uses
state-of-the-art sonar and GPS (Global Positioning System) equipment to quickly collect highly accurate
water depth and location/positioning data. Collected field data are analyzed back at our office using complex
map generation software packages. The end result is professional grade, high quality pond and lake maps along
with important physical and morphological data. Lastly, Aqua Link has a variety of boats, thereby allowing
us to develop bathymetric maps for small ponds to very large reservoirs.
